Ford Celebrates the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E

The Mustang Mach-E made a major splash when Ford first introduced the vehicle in November of 2019, and since then it has only grown in sophistication and popularity. At the end of November of this year, Ford celebrated the production of the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E. This is a major milestone in the two years of production that the vehicle has been through, and a step on the way to Ford’s goal of scaling EV production to 600,000 a year by late 2023 and more than 2 million by 2026.

“When we put the pony on this Mustang, we knew we’d have skeptics. What we didn’t quite know then was just how popular this car would become,” said Darren Palmer, vice president, Electric Vehicle Programs, Ford Model e. “I love seeing Mustang Mach-E vehicles on the road and talking to customers, and I am seeing more and more of them.”

As electric vehicles become more common, more popular, and more practical for the everyday driver, people are switching to electric cars in larger and larger numbers. This demographic makes up a large portion of Mustang Mach-E sales– Almost all of the vehicle’s growth to date has come from customers who are replacing an internal combustion vehicle with an electric one. These customers, in fact, make up more than 8 in 10 in the U.S. and 9 in 10 Europe. 

Another milestone that Ford is celebrating along with the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E is that the vehicle is now available in 37 countries across the world for 2023. In the Mustang Mach-E’s first year, the vehicle was only available in 22 countries, and the growth is very representative of how Ford is creating electric vehicles that meet the needs of many different customers in many different places. New Zealand, Brazil and Argentina have been the latest countries to gain access to the Mustang Mach-E. 

The 150,000th Mustang Mach-E was produced at Cuautitlán Stamping and Assembly Plant, a location which Ford is currently upgrading. “The plant is buzzing,” said Deborah Manzano, Ford’s director of manufacturing. “There’s a new battery line, new chassis line, additional assembly line, we’re literally maxing out the space to make more Mustang Mach-E vehicles. We most recently added a new paint shop, too. Nothing is standing still for long!”
