Ford Improves Standard F-150 Lightning Range to 240 Miles

This month, Ford revealed numerous updates about its renowned all-electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning. Based on a recent press release, the company confirmed that the Ford F-150 Lightning Standard Range is now extended, as the vehicle will provide an EPA-estimated range of 240 miles for every charge.

Before this update, the Ford F-150 Lightning’s standard range was 230 miles per charge. The upgrade in the vehicle’s range may seem small, but every single mile for a pickup truck like the Lightning is important, especially when drivers need to tow things like a trailer or when the vehicle is operating during the winter season.

Additionally, the Lightning’s options list improves with the inclusion of Ford’s Pro Trailer Hitch Assist Technology — which affects steering, throttle, and brake inputs so you can hitch trailers easier — to the Tow Technology Package that is offered on Pro, XLT and Lariat models and comes standard for the Platinum edition. Fleet purchasers will also be able to order the new Ford Pro Special Service Vehicle Package with roof-mounted LED beacons, police-grade cloth front seats and built-in steel intrusion plates.

Some extra smaller changes to the F-150 Lightning also involve taking out the all-electric pickup truck’s Atlas Blue, Ice Blue Silver, and Smoked Quartz Metallic paint options, which will no longer be available on vehicles produced starting this fall. These colors will be replaced with two new paint options — Avalanche Gray and Azure Gray metallic tri-coat.

Lightning reservation holders who previously received an invitation to order, but who elected to extend their reservation because their vehicle specification was unavailable, will receive a private offer for use in upcoming waves.

“Current order holders awaiting delivery are not impacted by these price adjustments,” Marin Gjaja, chief customer officer, Model e, said. “We’ve announced pricing ahead of re-opening order banks so our reservation holders can make an informed decision around ordering a Lightning.”
