New 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R Offers Extreme Performance

For 2023, the Ford F-150 is ready to introduce a new trim option and several other new model editions. There’s a great two-tone Heritage Edition F-150 arriving first, while a new off-road Rattler edition debuts next. Of course, for ultimate performance and extreme power, the upcoming 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is ready to surprise and excite.

“Raptor R is our ultimate Raptor,” said Carl Widmann, Ford Performance chief engineer. “When customers experience Raptor R in the desert and beyond, it will make the hairs on the back of their necks stand up – and they’ll love every second of it.”

The F-150 Raptor has always offered a distinct style and off-road prowess, and the 2023 Raptor R takes those principles to the next level. The pickup’s hood is designed with a larger engine power bulge that Ford says is an inch taller than on the standard F-150. The Raptor’s signature “F O R D” grille style is back, and the bumpers and fender flares arrive with a sleek black style. Ford Performance’s Code Orange color appears throughout the truck, with accents on the grille, hood, and tailgate.
The impressive power of the Raptor R comes from a new 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that churns out 700 horsepower and 640 lb.-ft. of torque for unmatched desert-running performance. The Ford Performance team utilized the most powerful engine in its lineup – previously designed for the Mustang Shelby GT500 – optimizing it for Raptor-level power and Built Ford Tough durability.

The Raptor R also gets a load of off-road performance tech. It’s designed with a variety of terrain-specialized drive modes that come standard, including modes for snow, dirt, and sand. Ford also offers Trail Turn Assist, which locks the inside rear wheel to help the pickup pivot and turn much more tightly. The vehicle’s one-pedal off-road driving system called Trail Control is also standard for the new Raptor R. It functions similar to cruise control but on trails to allow drivers to focus on the terrain ahead while the truck maintains its speed.
