The 2023 Ford Transit Trail Van: Now Arriving in the U.S.

Ford recently debuted a big surprise: the company is making a 2023 Ford Transit Trail van for the United States market! In a new tweet, Ford Pro CEO Ted Cannis stated, “From job site to campsite. Ford #TransitTrail coming soon!” Even more, within the tweet was a teaser video that advertised the benefits of taking the van on your next big adventures.

The same video shows the Transit Trail van’s side profile, a side step, and the vehicle’s front grille, emboldened by three dark yellow-colored clearance lights. Ford’s CEO Jim Farley delivered more info in a tweet on when to expect the Trail version of the van to arrive: this November.

In the United Kingdom, Ford originally released the Transit Trail van earlier in 2020. Though that iteration never made it state-side, we can reference the vehicle for a better sense of what’s to come. That version of the Transit Trail was built with enhanced capability to support drivers whose work takes them across difficult terrain away from normal roads, including all-wheel drive along with Slippery and Mud/Rut Selectable Drive Modes. It also comes in multiple body styles and wheelbases, with complete leather seating for enhanced luxury, durability, and an easy-to-clean design.The European Transit Trail also delivers a 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine, which we probably won’t get for the new model in the U.S.
The 2023 Transit Trail will be developed where other Transit and E-Transit vans are already created: at the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri. These vans start at just above and below the $50,000 price mark, respectively, and a more off-road capable version would likely have a higher initial price than offered for the original lineup.

The current 2022 base Transit van sports a 3.5-liter V6 engine and can tow up to 5,100 pounds. Almost two years ago, Ford unveiled the 2022 Ford E-Transit as an all-electric variant of the Transit delivery van. Perhaps an E-Transit Trail is also coming soon?
